For the history lovers we have at 10am daily, (we accept groups of two or more people on this walk)."The Folly Civil War Walk", based on the book,"To Take Charleston, The Civil War on Folly Island" written by the late James W. Hagy, a former Folly resident and local history professor. Starting in April of 1863, Folly Island became the base of operations for the Federal Army till March 1865, in an attempt to capture the city of Charleston. For 58 days the combined power of the federal army and navy tried in vain to capture Charleston.  An important military campaign all but forgotten to time that introduced modern military fighting to the new world.

And for those folks who enjoy a good story. We also have a twilight walk called "Stories from the SC Sea Islands", that combines history with storytelling. It includes stories about ghosts, hags, Indians, mermaids, pirates, root doctors, and shipwrecks.(We take groups of four or more people on this walk) It departs at 730pm daily during springtime.

All the history walks depart from the gate at the end of East Ashley Ave.,here on Folly Beach,1746 E.Ashley Ave. The walks last 60 to 75 minutes. RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED.
